The Artist
Lion of Judah · Mixed Media · 140cm × 90cm
Larry Jiménez is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Medellín, Colombia. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, his practice fuses Dripping and Scribble Art — a constant dialogue between control and freedom, where the human figure emerges from layers of movement, texture, and raw emotion.
His canvases are built through an intuitive process: paint flows, drips, and expands across the surface while gestural linework intervenes with energy and spontaneity. Each piece is a living record of the moment it was made.
Inspired by Latin American, Mexican, and African cultures, Larry's portraits carry identity, resistance, and authenticity beyond literal representation. He finds his subjects in the faces that carry stories — people with strong character, defined presence, and cultural weight.
Urban identity, music, street art, and the raw beauty of human imperfection all feed into his visual language. He seeks to capture energy and movement, not perfection.
More than pursuing traditional technical perfection, Larry's intention is to capture real energy — the instant where emotion, movement, and matter meet. Imperfection is not a flaw; it is the language. Each stroke preserves the memory of the gesture that made it.
Larry's career as a professional tattoo artist under Dot and Drag Ink has deeply shaped his approach to painting — understanding both skin and canvas as living surfaces of expression. His 4+ years of tattooing built a direct relationship with line, rhythm, and presence that continues to inform every painting he creates.
Larry also creates world-class custom tattoos in Medellín — black & grey realism and dragging dotwork.
